  • Acupuncture is a treatment that involves the stimulation of specific areas of the body called acupoints. Acupoints can be grouped to form different channels and organ systems that are manipulated through needle insertion. Acupuncture has been proven, by research, to be effective in providing pain relief. It is understood that Acupuncture can lead to the release of neurotransmitters from the central nervous system (CNS) such as opioids, serotonin and norepinephrine to induce analgesia (pain relief).

If you have private health insurance, you may be eligible to claim your Acupuncture treatment.

  • Cupping therapy is a technique used in Chinese medicine that uses suction to treat certain conditions. Cupping therapy can be applied using fire cupping or dry cupping on the surface of the skin. Cupping may be offered as part of your Acupuncture consultation or alternatively you can book under Cupping Therapy and Massage for a 30-minute treatment.

    Suitable conditions for Cupping therapy:

    • Sports injuries such as sprains or strains.

    • Muscle tension or tightness.

    • Bone injuries such as stress fractures.

    • Abdominal pain.

    • Asthma and Respiratory conditions such as cold and flu.

    • Constipation and diarrhoea.

    • Menstrual disorders.

    • Fever.

  • Tui Na is a form of Chinese massage that uses the principles of Yin and Yang and the organ channels to treat imbalances in the body. Through the use of various bodywork techniques the practitioner works to rebalance the body’s Qi and organ systems. Tui Na may be offered as part of your Acupuncture consultation or alternatively you can book under Cupping Therapy and Massage for a 30-minute treatment.

Tui Na can be used for the following conditions:

    • Digestive issues, stomach pain, constipation or diarrhoea.

    • Mental-emotional conditions such as stress and anxiety.

    • Menstrual pain.

    • Headaches and migraines.

    • Muscle tension and tightness.

  • Gua Sha is a technique used in Chinese medicine to promote healing, improve skin elasticity and support lymphatic drainage. Gua means to scrape or rub. Sha is the red dotting (petechiae) that appears during or after treatment. Gua Sha is not only used for the face but for other areas of the body such as the neck, back and limbs.

Gua Sha can be used to:

    • Expel pathogens.

    • Move Qi and Blood stagnation to reduce pain.

    • Relax the tendons and sinews.

    • Calm the Shen to reduce anxiety and tension.

Moxibustion is the application of burning the herb mugwort. It can be applied to acupoints or organ channels to promote healing within the body. It promotes a warming effect and can be used for various conditions such as:

    • Musculoskeletal conditions.

    • Headaches and migraines.

    • Neuropathy.

    • During pregnancy to turn a breech baby.

    • Digestive system disorders.

    • Menstrual pain.

Currently we use a smokeless form of Moxibustion in the clinic to be mindful of those with asthma and respiratory conditions.
