  • Acupuncture is a practice that involves the stimulation of specific points on the body, known as acupoints or acupuncture points. These points are located along pathways referred to as channels or meridians in Chinese medicine. Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles at these points and is tailored to each individual.

People often choose acupuncture as part of a holistic approach to support general wellbeing and relaxation. The mechanisms by which acupuncture may influence the body are still being studied, and there are many different theories within Chinese medicine.

If you have private health insurance, you may be able to claim your acupuncture sessions, depending on your policy.

  • Cupping therapy is a technique used within Chinese medicine that involves the application of suction cups to the surface of the skin. Cups may be applied using either dry cupping or fire cupping techniques, depending on individual needs and practitioner assessment.

Cupping therapy may be offered as part of an acupuncture consultation or as a standalone session. Some people choose cupping as a supportive therapy to assist with relaxation, easing muscular tension, and promoting general wellbeing. The suitability of cupping is assessed on an individual basis, taking into account your health history and treatment goals.

Cupping can be booked as part of an acupuncture appointment or under Cupping Therapy and Massage for a 45-minute session.

  • Tui Na is a form of Chinese therapeutic bodywork that is based on the principles of Yin and Yang and the traditional Chinese medicine understanding of channels and body systems. It involves the use of a range of hands-on techniques applied to the body, with the aim of supporting balance and promoting overall wellbeing.

Tui Na may be offered as part of an acupuncture consultation or booked as a standalone session under Cupping Therapy and Massage for a 30-minute treatment. The suitability of Tui Na is assessed on an individual basis, taking into account your health history and treatment goals.

Some people choose Tui Na as a supportive therapy to assist with relaxation, easing general muscular tension, and supporting a sense of physical and emotional wellbeing.

  • Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a technique used within Chinese medicine that involves the gentle application of a smooth-edged tool to the skin. The term Gua refers to rubbing or scraping, while Sha describes the temporary skin markings that may appear during or after treatment. Gua Sha may be applied to different areas of the body, including the face, neck, back, and limbs, depending on individual needs and practitioner assessment.

Some people choose Gua Sha as a supportive therapy within a Chinese medicine framework to encourage relaxation, support circulation, and promote a sense of overall wellbeing. The suitability of Gua Sha is assessed on an individual basis as part of your consultation.

    Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the application of warmth using the herb mugwort (Artemisia). It may be applied to acupuncture points or along channels as part of a Chinese medicine treatment approach. Moxibustion is generally used to provide a warming sensation and to support comfort and balance within the body, in accordance with Chinese medicine principles.

In our clinic, a smokeless form of moxibustion is used to be mindful of clients with sensitivities to smoke and those with respiratory considerations. The use of moxibustion is determined on an individual basis following practitioner assessment.

  • Ear seeds are small acupressure devices that are applied to specific points on the ear as part of a Chinese medicine approach. They are typically worn for a short period of time and may be included as part of an acupuncture consultation or offered as a standalone ear seed application.

Some people choose ear seeds as a supportive technique to promote relaxation and general wellbeing. The suitability of ear seeds is assessed on an individual basis, taking into account your health history and treatment goals.

Ear seeds may be applied during an acupuncture consultation at no additional cost, or you can book an Ear Seed Application appointment if you are seeking a standalone session.

  • Our signature facial is designed to provide a relaxing and supportive skincare experience. The 60-minute treatment includes a 10–15 minute Chinese medicine consultation and a 45-minute facial incorporating a double cleanse, facial massage, Rose Quartz Gua Sha facial, and facial/scalp acupressure.

Some people choose this facial as a way to unwind, enjoy a self-care ritual, and explore the principles of Chinese medicine in relation to wellbeing. The suitability of the facial is assessed on an individual basis during the consultation.

All products used are certified organic by Mukti Skincare.

If you have any questions about this facial or would like to check its suitability for you, please reach out before booking. Please note this service is not eligible for private health insurance rebates.
